Field Services Page 1 of 1 01/01 (REV 1/04) Division Commander The purpose of this order is to o utline the responsibilities of the Field Services Division Commander. I. General Field Services Captains are Div ision Commanders and have the re sponsibility for the overall management and directi on of their assigned area. II. Duties A. They will serve as the comm unity’s main point of contact wit h the Sheriff’s Department on issues, events and delivery of services. They sh all act as a quasi “Chief of Police” for t he geographical area they are as signed. They are responsible for proactive and reactive plans of action to meet the community’s needs. They shall m onitor trends and be responsibl e for developing strategies to prev ent, intervene or respond to ident ified issues. They advise, counsel, and direct m ajor law enforcement activiti es in large scale operations; report all import ant and necessary informatio n to superior officers; formulate specia l orders, policies, and proc edures; act as liaison officers for superior offi cers internally and externall y; coordinate major staff and line functions ; direct preparation of the budge t; and perform related duties as required. B. They will perform all duties prescribed by the Chief Deputy of Field Services, other Chief Deputies, t he Assistant Sheriff, Undershe riff and the Sheriff.
