1/01 (rev. 08/03) CIVIL DIVISION – COMMANDER The purpose of this Operations Or der is to outline the responsi bilities of the Commander of the Sheriff’s Civil Division. I. General The Civil Commander holds the r ank of Sheriff’s Lieutenant. He /she is the manager and officer-in-char ge of the Civil Division. II. Chain of Command The Civil Commander reports direc tly to the Chief Deputy of In vestigative and Special Operations Services. H e/she reports information as dir ected by the Chief along with any other necessa ry or important information. III. Administrative Duties  Preparation and overseei ng of the division budget  Creation of special orde rs, policies and procedures  Revenue generation  Management of automated systems and computers  Oversee divisional accounting procedures  Discovery, investigation and trac king of all legi slation perti nent of the Civil Division IV. Supervisory Duties  Direction of division superviso ry personnel and their subordin ates  Advising and counseling of personnel as necessary  Direction of major divisional activities  Liaison between his subordi nates and his/her superiors  Responds to service and personnel complaints  Approves financial disbursement s of $10,000 or m ore from the C ivil Trust Fund. V. Absence The Court Process Manager will be the Acting Commander in the Civil Commander’s absence unless other wise appropriately designated.
