Plantation Police Department

Policy Text
15.1 PURPOSE: A. The City of Plantation is a chartered municipality. In accordance with Article VIII Section 2(b) of the Constitution of the State of Florida and Florida State Statute 166.021, the City shall have governmental, corporate and proprietary powers. Through these powers, and Florida State Statutes 943.10(1), 790.052(1), the Police Department, as a municipal service, has the legal right to enforce the laws of the State of Florida and the ordinances of the City of Plantation. B. The enforcement authority of the police is limited by the appropriate guidelines set forth in the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Florida, Florida State Statutes, City of Plantation Ordinances, and the policies and procedures of the Plantation Police Department. C. All officers of the Department are equally responsible for the enforcement of all laws and ordinances. The delegation of the enforcement of certain laws and ordinances to a particular component of the Department does not relieve officers of other components from taking prompt action for violations brought to their attention.
