PURPOSE
The purpose of this direc tive is to set forth guidelines for de termining the length of ser vice for officers as -
signed to undercover assignments.
INTENT
It is the intent of the Plant City Police Department to closely monitor the term of service of members as -
signed to undercover roles.
RULES AND PROCEDURES
A. Officers selected for as signment in undercover roles may be subject to the fol lowing:
1. Psychological e valuation, prior to assignment;
2. Twelve month evalua tion by the imme diate super visor;
3. Commanding officer re view; and
B. The Department reserves the right, at any time, to request any undercover officer to take a drug
and con trolled sub stance test. Psy cholog ical exam inations may be given when there is reasonable
suspicion of psycho logical problems.
A. Officers are sub ject to regular, annual per sonnel evalua tions to en sure they are quali fied to car ry
out their assigned du ties and to en sure their job perfor mance is at an ac cepta ble level. Officers
whose job per formance continually falls below ac ceptable lev els and who have not responded to
coun seling or retraining may be trans ferred from an undercover assignment at any time.
B. At the end of four years officers will be subjected to a com prehensive assessment to eval uate their
continued stay in an undercover assignment. This assessment will include, at a minimum:

2. Voluntary drug and controlled substance testing; and
3. Supervisor evaluation.
C. At any time, further psychological e valuations may be conducted at the request/recommendation
of the supervisor.
D. Any supervisor of undercover officers has the authori ty and responsibility to evaluate, assess, and
make any n ecessary recommenda tions re garding the work perfor mance and eth ics of any
undercover officer.
