Developed inconjunction withLexipol Inc., thepolicies were reviewed andadapted toincorporate procedures specific totheCityofOrange Police Department. TheOrange Police Department embraces theLawEnforcement CodeofEthics alongwithour Policy andProcedure Manual toprovide employees withguidance andexpectations. Additionally, anumber ofdirectives onsubject matter notpreviously addressed inpolicyhavebeenadded to thisPolicy Manual. Thiswasdonetoensure ( tothegreatest degree possible) thatwhenaquestion arises, employees willhaveasource toturntoforanswers. Iammostappreciative ofthecommitment andcharacter ofouremployees. Together wehave madegreatstrides inmoving ourdepartment forward; anditistogether thatwemustcontinue to move closer totheachievement ofourown "FivePillars ofSuccess." Iwillkeepmyprivate lifeunsullied asanexample toallandwillbehave inamanner thatdoes notbringdiscredit tomeortomyagency. Iwillmaintain courageous calminthefaceofdanger, scorn orridicule; develop self-restraint; andbeconstantly mindful ofthewelfare ofothers. Honest inthought anddeedbothinmypersonal andofficial life, Iwillbeexemplary inobeying thelaw andtheregulations ofmydepartment. Whatever Iseeorhearofaconfidential nature orthatis confided tomeinmyofficial capacity willbekepteversecret unless revelation isnecessary in theperformance ofmyduty. Iwillneveractofficiously orpermit personal feelings, prejudices, political beliefs, aspirations, animosities orfriendships toinfluence mydecisions. Withnocompromise forcrime andwith relentless prosecution ofcriminals, Iwillenforce thelawcourteously andappropriately without fearorfavor, malice orillwill, never employing unnecessary forceorviolence andnever accepting gratuities. Irecognize thebadge ofmyofficeasasymbol ofpublic faith, andIaccept itasapublic trusttobe heldsolongasIamtruetotheethicsofpoliceservice. Iwillneverengage inactsofcorruption orbribery, norwillIcondone suchactsbyotherpolice officers. Iwillcooperate withalllegally authorized agencies andtheirrepresentatives inthepursuit ofjustice. IknowthatIalone amresponsible formyownstandard ofprofessional performance andwilltake everyreasonable opportunity toenhance andimprove mylevelofknowledge andcompetence.
