Subject : Public Fingerprinting
This order consists of the following:

1. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines and procedures for the Records
Management Section personnel providing fingerprint service to the publ ic.
2. Procedures
A. Duties and Responsibilities
1. General
a. Fingerprinting is done in accordance with the established schedule.
b. The fee for fingerprinting service s will be in accordance with G O
20.1.11 (User Fees for Sheriff’s Services).
c. Persons being fingerprinted may bring their own fingerprint cards or a
card will be provided .
d. Persons fingerprinted must possess a phot o ID including any of the
following government -issued docum ents:
1. Valid Florida Driver’s License
2. Valid Florida Identification Card, issued by the Department of
Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
3. Valid United States Passport
2. Accepting and Accounting for Money
Money will be collected and a receipt given t o persons being fingerprinted by
Records Counter personnel. Records Counter personnel shall follow
Cash/Check Collection and Receipt procedure in accordance with SO 54.0.
3. Obtaining Leg ible Fingerprints
a. Using standard and accepted fingerprinting methods, every effort will
be made to obtain clear and legible fingerprints.
b. If physical problems, such as deformity, paralysis or thinning skin due
to age, cause poor quality or light prin ts, Records Management
personnel shall provide a disclaimer on agency letterhead stationary ,
stating that due to the individual’s physical condition, the prints taken
were the best obtainable.
c. Persons whose fingerprints have been returned from FDLE as
unreadable will be reprinted at no additional cost.
