ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE GENERAL ORDER Effective Date: January 8, 2020  Amends - GO 15.1.4 ( January 12, 2015 ) Number: 15.1.4 Distribution: All Personnel Review Month: February Reviewing Authority: SSD / Records Management Subject: Report Review This order consists of the following: 1. Purpose 2. Policy 3. Definitions 4. Procedures 1. Purpose The purpose of this order is to establish and maintain a Report Review Unit to provide quality control of all reports submitted to the State Attorn ey’s Office. 2. Policy As new case law is established, new Florida Statutes are instituted and existing statutes are amended, the Report Review Unit must verify that these changes are strictly adhered to in regards to filing cases and making app ropriate a rrests. All cases will be reviewed to determine their compliance with the Florida Statutes . The Report Review Unit will disseminate requests for additional information. 3. Definitions A. Case Cover Sheet – a sheet sent by the State Attorney notifying the agencies of the intent to prosecute or the reason a case is not filed . B. Tasking – a notice sent to an employee requesting additional information related to incident or supplemental reports. 4. Procedures A. The Report Review Unit confirms that case re ports received by Report Review are submitted to the State Attorney on a timely ba sis when an arrest is made, or when the deputy is filing for a warrant. B. When additional information is deemed necessary, a request will be made in the form of a Tasking. This request will be answered within the time frame set by Report Review to comply with time constraints set forth by criminal proceedings. If the originator does not respond to the Tasking within the required time frame, a second request is sent to the originator’s immediate supervisor. If the originator does not respond to the secon d request, a third request is sent to the originator, the immediate supervisor and the next supervisor in the chain of command. C. Each case that is submitted to the State A ttorne y’s Office will be accompanied by a Case Cover Sheet to verify quality control and accountability. 15.1.4, Page 2 of 2 D. Paperwork that is generated by the State Attorne y’s Office will be disseminated to appropriate personnel and when necessary, returned to the Stat e Attorney ’s Office by the Report Review Unit. E. Case cover sheets and final di spositions returned by the State Attorney’s Office shall be scanned by Document Imaging, reviewed by Report Review Unit and given to Uniform Crime Reporting for clearance pur poses.
