ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE GENERAL ORDER Effective Date: January 29, 2021  Amends - GO 6.2.3 (December 13, 2013 ) Number: 6.2.3 Distribution: All Personnel Review Month: January Reviewing Authority: UPD / Division Commander Subject: Body Armor This order consists of the following: 1. Purpose 2. Policy 3. Procedures 1. Purpose The purpose of this policy is to provide body armor usage guidance to sworn personnel. 2. Policy All sworn personnel shall wear their agency issued protective body armor as outlined below. 3. Procedures A. The wearing of protective body armor is mandatory for all sworn personnel while in uniform, in accordance with GO 9.1.2, Appearance, Uniform s and Equipment, (Section 3 (A, B, C, and D)), which are to include on duty and off duty employment unless exempt as follows: 1. Members involved in an undercover capacity and the wearing of body armor could compromise the deputy. 2. Members of the Hono r Guard when in a class A formal jacket detail or during competition. 3. Members of the Bagpipe Team while performing. 4. As otherwise authorized by the Sheriff. B. Agency personnel are require d to wear the body armor when engaged in pre - planned, high -risk activities, such as the execution of search warrants or participating in crowd control situations .
