This order consists of the following:

1. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to provide some compensation to on duty personnel suffering
a loss or damage to personal property .
2. Policy
It is the policy of the agency to compensate on -duty employees for loss or damage to
personal property sustained in the performance of their assigned tasks.
3. Procedures
A. On duty personnel whose personal property is lost or damaged may submit a
request in Blue Team for compensation.
B. The Human Resources Division Commander will have the final authority in
determining the validity of the requests for reimbursement and amount of
compensation. The decision of the Human Resources Commander is non -
appealable.
C. Risk Management shall complete a requisition and forward same to Fiscal
Management for a reimbursement check to be issued t o the person suffering the
loss for approved claims.
D. Personnel are cautioned to use discretion in the decision to wear expensive
jewelry, glasses, etc., as most items will not be reimbursed at full replacement cost
due to monetary constraints. Compensati on for damaged items will be reimbursed
at market value.
E. Damage to Personal Property will be submitted in Blue Team and must be
completed in its entirety and forwarded to Human Resources, Risk Management.
F. A receipt for the replacement item must accompany the Blue Team submission.
Compensation is made only after an ite m has been replaced.
