Page 1 of 2 OFFICE OF CHIEF OF POLICE OAKLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT SPECIAL ORDER 9202 TO: Sworn Personnel Subject: Documentation of Specific DGO K -03 Force Date: 27 Feb 2020 TERMINATION: Upon Revision of General Order K-04, Reporting and Investigating the Use of Force Special Order 9196 took effect on 15 Feb 2020. Due to a n unexpect edly high volume of calls standing after that date , which has potentially jeopardized public safety , Special Order 9196 is temporarily modi fied. Effective immediately, all direct ion regarding Type 32 reportable force in Special Order 9196 is modified from a Level 4 reportable use of force to the following: Members who use any force as defined in DGO K -03 that is not listed under Types 1- 31 to either • Overcome resis tance of a pers on during a n arres t or a det ention; or • Defend oneself or another from combative action by another person Shall do the following: 1. Document their actions in the applicable Offense, S upplemental, or FI/SDR narrativ e; 2. Write the word “K32” in the above narra tive; 3. Use the CAD dispositi on code “ K32” to note the incident ; and 4. Write the word “K32” in the annotations for any associated PDRD /BWC video. Personnel shall continue reporting for ce Types 1 -31 in a ccordance with DGO K- 04 and Special Order 9196. Supervi sors and Commanders reviewing reports shall continue to fol low the report review process as set forth in DGO s M-18 and M -19 and the Departme nt Report Writing Manual.
