OFFICE OF CHIEF OF POLICE OAKLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM TO: All Personnel DATE: 28 Mar 12 SUBJECT: Revision of Departmental General Order I-7, RADIO CALL NUMBERS (Rev. 12 Jan 08) The subject order has been revised to update and create new radio call numbers for all Departmental and non-Departmental units authorized to communicate on City of Oakland police radio frequencies. The Evaluation Coordinator shall receive, review and document the acceptance or rejection of all comments and/or recommendations received prior to submitting his/her six-month evaluation report. The Evaluation Coordinator for this order shall be the Communications Division Commander, who, without further notice, shall forward the required report to the Chief of Police on or by 28 Sep 12. Personnel shall acknowledge receipt, review, and understanding of this directive in accordance with the provisions of DGO A-1, DEPARTMENTAL PUBLICATIONS. By order of Howard A. I. CALL NUMBER ASSIGNMENT AND CONFIGURATION A. Each radio call number shall consist of three components: 1. PREFIX: A one (1) or two (2)-digit number used to represent time of assignment, Area assigned or type of assignment. 2. ALPHA CHARACTER: One (1) alpha character representing the type of assignment number of officers assigned. 3. SUFFIX: A one (1) - or two (2)-digit number indicating area of assignment, function, rank or unit number. B. 1. J Alpha A C F I-7 Effective Date 28 Mar 12 Prefix 36 Office/Division/Area City Agencies 37 Alameda County District Attorney Division/Section/ Unit/Detail/Shift Public Works Agency Parking Enforcement Unit Victim Assistance Program Mental Health Mobile Outreach Teams Code Alpha Digit (Staffing function) Staffing/Function Two-officer unit (where another specific alpha designator is not applicable) Civilian (non-sworn) personnel (regardless of classification) One-officer Foot Patrol Unit Two-officer training unit. This designator will serve to advise the Communications Section and other district units of the need for a cover officer assignment. The "J" designator shall be initially assigned to the training unit and may be changed to the alpha character "A" after consultation with the district sergeant and approval by the Watch Commander.
