I. INTELLIGENCE FUNCTIONS General Order # 8 Effective: 07/05/2023 CFA 19.01 19.02 APPROVED: CHIEF CARLOS NORIEGA POLICY It is the policy of the North Bay Village Police Department to gather all information relating to officer safety, vice, organized crime, public official corruption, gang activity, the illegal manufacture, possession, and sale of narcotics, protection of visiting dignitaries, the monitoring of all hate mail, threats against public officials, and all other criminal activity. DEFINITIONS Active Intelligence Information – Criminal intelligence information shall be considered "active" as long as it is related to intelligence gathering conducted with a reasonable, good faith belief that it shall lead to the detection of ongoing or reasonably anticipated criminal activities. Criminal Intelligence – Information collected by this Agency, any other law enforcement agency, or civilians with respect to an identifiable person or group(s) of persons in an effort to anticipate, prevent or monitor possible criminal activity. Raw Data – Information from various sources that by itself may not infer criminal activity but, when combined with other information, may make an inference of criminal activity.
