POLICY
The Department recognizes the importance of providing a sound foundation for newly
hired officers of the Department. All new officers shall be given the opportunity to
acquire the skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary to become competent and
effective police officers through the completion of a formalized field training program
prior to assignment as a solo patrol officer.
It shall be the policy of the North Bay Village Police Department to train newly hired law
enforcement officers in Department policies and procedures, officer safety techniques,
as well as proper law enforcement practices through the use of a field training program
(FTP).
