I. LICENSE PLATE READER General Order #48 Effective: 05/25/2023 CFA 32.04 APPROVED: CHIEF CARLOS NORIEGA POLICY License Plate Recognition (LPR) Technology plays an important role in public safety by enhancing productivity, effectiveness, and police officer safety. LPR systems are able to recognize, read and compare motor vehicle license plates against various "hot lists" much more efficiently than Officers manually scanning and making comparisons. This technology enables the North Bay Village Police Department to be more effective in crime prevention and apprehension of criminals. It is the policy of the North Bay Village Police Department to utilize License Plate Recognition (LPR) Camera Systems in a safe, professional, and legal manner. The LPR system will only be used to aid in the investigation of criminal and traffic violations.
