MOUNTAIN 2023 POLICE VIEW MOUNTAIN VIEW POLICE DEPARTMENT SPECIAL SERVICES SECTION TRAINING AND INFORMATION BULLETIN DATE: January 23, 2023 BULLETIN NUMBER: 23-02 SUBJECT: Feather Alert System PAGE 1 OF 1 INFORMATION: This bulletin will create a procedure for MVPD to activate the Feather Alert system should a case meet the requirements. The Feather Alert follows the already in place procedures for Amber/Silver/Blue Alert system activations. Ensure these conditions are met before activating a Feather Alert; • A vehicle is involved with specific identifying information about the vehicle available for public dissemination • The missing person is an indigenous woman or an indigenous person • • The investigating agency has utilized available and local tribal resources The law enforcement agency determines the person has gone missing under unexplained or suspicious circumstances The law enforcement agency believes the person is in danger because of age, health, mental or physical disability, or environment or weather conditions, that the person is in the company of a potentially dangerous person, or that there are other factors indicating that the person may be in peril.
