MOUNTAIN 2021 POLICE VIEW MOUNTAIN VIEW POLICE DEPARTMENT SPECIAL SERVICES SECTION TRAINING AND INFORMATION BULLETIN DATE: August 12, 2021 BULLETIN NUMBER: 21 - 04 PAGE 1 OF 1 SUBJECT: INFORMATION: Assembly Bill 1475 - Law Enforcement Social Media On July 23, Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law AB 1475, which precludes law enforcement agencies from posting booking photos of arrestees that have committed non-violent offenses on their social media channels. AB 1475 does not preclude journalists from requesting through the California Public Records Act booking photos for anyone arrested of a crime. The legislation states that law enforcement agencies can post booking photos in instances of felony violence. Any request to post these kinds of images to our department social media or to release these images should be coordinated via the Social Media and Public Relations Coordinator.
