MOUNTAIN VIEW POLICE DEPARTMENT SPECIAL SERVICES SECTION TRAINING AND INFORMATION BULLETIN PAGE 1 OF 1 CONFIDENTIAL • FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT USE ONLY 2020 DATE: June 2 9th, 2020 BULLETIN NUMBER: 20 - 12 SUBJECT: Holiday Fireworks Disposal INFORMATION: With Independence Day approaching , there may be a potential increase in the collection of fireworks ; there fore, we have placed a round bin outside near the vehicle cage for the de posit of fireworks. This bin is ONLY for fireworks collected for destruction. There is no need to complete a PD -221 or an evidence tag. You can just place the items inside the bin. However, if you have confiscated fireworks as part of an investigation or if you are citing or arresting someone for the fireworks, then you must log them as you would any other evidence. • These evidence items need to be packaged in an appropriately -sized box, paper bag or envelope with evidence tag affixed. The packaged fir eworks must then be placed in the hazard locker, or if the items are too large for the hazard locker, placed inside one of the nearby drying lockers. These fireworks DO need to be entered as a property item on a PD - 221/222 and their location listed as “ H” (for Hazard Locker).
