Mobile Crisis Response Team
In August 2018, Santa Clara County Behavioral Health launched an in-field program for law
enforcement who encounters individuals in crisis. The Mobile Crisis Response Team currently
consists of 8 clinicians who will respond to locations as needed when called by law
enforcement. The role of the MCRT is to provide crisis screening, crisis intervention, and links
to treatment, resources and 5150 evaluations.
Law enforcement can contact MCRT for consultations for crisis situations, 5150 evaluations or
a crisis intervention where the individual is in crisis, has a mental illness or has a dual
diagnosis. If you contact MCRT, a clinician will answer the phone and assess the need for
immediate response or make other arrangements. During assessment if it is determined that
MCRT needs to respond, two clinicians will respond to the scene usually within 20-30
minutes.
The hours of operation are Monday- Friday, 0800-2000 hours. These days and hours of
operations will be extended once the team is fully staffed.
Officers can contact the MCRT at the listed number which is for LAW ENFORCEMENT
ONLY.
