I. PURPOSE:
The purpose of these Standard Operating Procedures is to provide guidelines for officers of the Miami
Springs Police Department in seizing, maintaining, and forfeiting property under the Florida Contraband
Forfeiture Act (F.C.F.A.) (FSS. 932.701 - 932.707) and to provide training procedures to be used by
officers in implementing the Act. Compliance with these Standards will enhance the goal of establishing
more uniform forfeiture practices. This S.O.P. is to be interpreted in a manner to assure that, to the
greatest extent possible, there is uniformity of department policy, procedure and State standards.
