I. Risk Protection Orders
A. The Department can petition the Court for an RPO if the Department
believes that a person poses a significant danger of causing personal
injury to themselves or others by having a firearm or any ammunition in
their custody or control, or by purchasing, possessing or receiving a
firearm or ammunition.
B. A Petition for an RPO must be accompanied by one or more Affidavits,
stating the specific statements, actions, or facts that give rise to a
reasonable fear of significant dangerous acts to themselves or others by
the Respondent. It must also detail the quantities, types and locations of
all firearms and ammunition believed to be in the Respondent’s current
ownership, possession, custody or control.
