DEFINITIONS:
AUTOMATIC ACTIVATION FEATURE - The ability to wirelessly alert the BWC to begin
recording.
BODY WORN CAMERA - A portable electronic recording device that is worn on a law
enforcement officer’s person that records audio and video data of the officer’s law
enforcement related encounters and activities.
BUFFERING MODE - When the BWC is in the on position until such time the record
button is pressed.
CALL FOR SERVICE - Any dispatched or self-initiated activity by any employee to
resolve, correct or assist in a particular situation. A call in which the CAD system
generates an incident/case number.
DEADLY FORCE - Force that is likely to cause death or great bodily harm as defined in
FS 776.06.
GUNSHOT DETECTION FEATURE - The ability of a BWC to detect and automatically
activate upon the sound of gunfire.

GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM (GPS) FEATURE - A global navigation satellite
system that provides location, velocity and time synchronization.
GREAT BODILY HARM - An injury that creates a substantial risk of death, causes
permanent disfigurement or results in long-term loss or impairment of the functioning of
any bodily member or organ.
ISSUED BWC - Collectively means an issued or replacement BWC authorized and
configured by the BWC System Administrator or designee.
LIVE STREAMING FEATURE - A feature that allows a Department supervisor, as
designated by the Chief of Police, or designee, the ability to view, in real time, an
incident that is being recorded on a BWC.
RECORDING MODE - When the BWC record button has been pressed twice and is
recording.
