I. General
A. The Chief of Police is responsible for the Honor Guard. The Chief of
Police will assign an Honor Guard Unit Supervisor.
B. The Honor Guard will consist of sworn officers. All personnel will be
volunteers and will be selected by the Honor Guard Supervisor.
Selection will be based on uniform appearance, military bearing and
acceptable evaluations. Personnel chosen will represent a cross section
of all ethnic groups in the Department.
C. Honor Guard Make Up
1. The Color Team will consist of four to six personnel - two rifleman,
positioned one on each side of the National Colors, State, City or
Department Colors at right and left shoulder arms.
2. The Firing Party will consist of eight personnel, seven Riflemen
and one Firing Party Supervisor.
3. The Pall Bearers will consist of six personnel with one officer
designated as the Pall Bearer Supervisor.
4. The Honor Guard Supervisor should, whenever possible, do all
planning, coordinate and give all commands at Honor Guard
Ceremonial assignments.
