I. General
A. The Chief’s Office will oversee the Community Affairs Unit. The
Community Affairs Unit is responsible for the development of a
comprehensive crime prevention program.
B. The crime prevention program is aimed at organizing crime prevention
groups in residential and business areas. The Community Affairs Unit will
maintain liaison with these and other interested community groups and
their activities which include the following:
1. Citizen awareness and addressing perceptions and misperceptions
of crimes;
2. Inspection of premises and recommendations concerning physical
security;
3. Dissemination of prevention techniques and information concerning
crime, based on crime types and geographic area;
4. Active solicitation of persons and/or groups interested in crime
prevention; and
5. Coordination of activities of persons and/or groups involved in the
program.
C. The Community Affairs Unit will be staffed by Neighborhood Resource
Officers (NROs) that are assigned to specific areas of the city.
