Policy Text
I. Employees who have volunteered or been called to active duty by the U.S. Military shall:
A. Notify the Department’s Business and Personnel Resources Unit (BPRU) Commander verbally
and/or in writing through the Chain-of-Command as soon as possible to coordinate deployment
processing;

B. Present Official Call to Duty papers (Military Orders) to the BPRU Commander, when available, and
a Leave Request.
C. Meet with the Chief of Police or his designee for exit and re-integration interviews.

D. Report to the Department Quartermaster on a day and time scheduled by the employee’s supervisor
to ensure their Department issued equipment (e.g. vehicle, firearms, weapons, laptop computer, and
radio) are turned in.

E. Provide the BPRU with a written statement via the Chain-of-Command noting whether they want to
use any of their accrued leave (annual, holiday, floating holiday, birthday or compensatory leave)
after their military leave has been exhausted.
