DEFINITIONS: ACTIVITY LOG - The current approved method for documenting work activity. ALERT - An indication by visual and/or audible signal of a potential match between a license plate scanned by the ALPR system and data on the Hot List. AUTOMATED LICENSE PLATE READER (ALPR) - A specialized system consisting of a camera(s), computer and computer software that automatically recognizes the characters on vehicle license plates, compares the data against a list of license plates bearing some significance to law enforcement, and notifies users when there is a match. The ALPR may be mounted to a police vehicle, hand-held, or be stationary/fixed at a location. HISTORICAL ALPR DATA - A database containing the dates, times and locations of individually identifiable vehicle license plates that is stored for a limited period of time and reference. HOT LIST - A list of plates and vehicles entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database and the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) database, Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID) as well as any information that is entered manually by the operating member. LOCAL ENTRY - Entry made by local law enforcement for matters having a legitimate law enforcement and/or homeland security purpose requiring immediate dissemination PROCEDURE:
