IV. Transporting Detainees E. Transporting Sick or Injured Detainees 1. FRU will be requested for any detainee who displays evidence of or complains of injury or illness on-scene. If the detainee is medically cleared by FRU, they will be transported to Headquarters. If FRU does not medically clear the detainee the detainee will not be transported to Headquarters. a. All personnel will continue to seek FRU clearance for injured or sick detainees as stated in SOP 013. b. In the event FRU will not transport the detainee, a detainee requiring transport by Department personnel to a medical facility for medical clearance prior to admission to TGK will notify their direct supervisor who will then notify the Area Shift Supervisor for guidance. c. The Shift Supervisor will review the circumstances of the call/arrest/injury and will advise the officer which medical facility to transport the arrestee to for medical clearance in the event FRU will not transport the detainee. d. If the detainee is being transported by FRU, the Shift Supervisor will contact FRU to learn where the detainee is being taken for medical clearance. WAJ/ir/pjp APPROVED BY: Wayne A.
