Police Department Policy

67 - Body Worn Camera Systems (1)

Margate Police Department

Policy Text
67.1 PURPOSE: 67.1.1 The Margate Police Department may equip personnel with Axon Body Worn Cameras (BWC) systems. The cameras are intended to assist and compliment members in the performance of their duties. The cameras are used to record certain duty related activities, thereby creating a visual and/or audio record of the incident as a supplement, not intended to replace a member’s report. It is the purpose of this policy to provide members with guidelines for the use of BWC’s. This policy is not intended to describe every possible situation where the systems may be used but to provide parameters where the cameras shall be required and others where they are left to the members discretion.
