24.1 PURPOSE: 24.1.1​ This directive will establish procedures for the handling of all items or property seized, found, or held as evidence. 24.1.2​ Florida Statutes generally relate to the collection of lost or abandoned property on public property. The department will establish and adhere to the same criteria for the collection and disposition of lost or abandoned property located on private property as well as from public property. 24.1.3​ The Administrative Services Unit Commander, or designee, shall be responsible for the storage of all property and evidence taken into department custody.
