I. PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to establish a
policy to comply with Florida’s “Victim’s
Rights” statutes. It is acknowledged that the
Lighthouse Point Police Department, in its
own best interest, has an important role to
play in the assistance of victims/witnesses.
The manner in which victims/witnesses are
treated plays a crucial role in the furtherance
of the criminal justice process. Their ability to
cope with the crime itself, and their
willingness to cooperate in the prosecution,
are integral components of a successful
investigation.
