Course Summary: This course is designed to provide basic firearms training for unarmed Detentions staff,
covering safety, storage, transportation, and use.
Performance Objectives: At the conclusion of the course, trainees will be able to
1)
Discuss and identify laws related to the use of firearms.
2)
Identify essential policy and procedure requirements related to the use of firearms.
3)
List the five rules of firearms safety.
4)
Describe the appropriate storage of a firearm.
5)
Identify the appropriate methods for transportation of a firearm.
6)
Demonstrate a basic level of competence in the use of a firearm by successfully completing a basic
course of fire as administered by course facilitators, to the satisfaction of the instructor.
