KERN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE Detentions Bureau Policies and Procedures TITLE: TASER USE IN DETENTIONS FACILITIES O-500 EFFECTIVE: REVIEWED: REVISED: UPDATED: May 9, 2008 07-11-24 11-19-18 07-11-24 APPROVED BY: Detentions Bureau Chief Deputy Cindy Cisneros REFERENCE: DPPM F-800 POLICY Staff assigned to Detentions Bureau facilities may use TASER brand (“TASER”) Electronic Control Devices (“ECD”) in accordance with section F-800 of the Departmental Policy and Procedures Manual and as detailed below. DIRECTIVE #1 Use of the TASER in Detentions Facilities will adhere to the following provisions: • Only staff who have successfully completed the department’s TASER training course may possess and/or use a TASER. • Staff assigned to carry a TASER will carry it on their person in an authorized holster. • In accordance with Section F-800 of the Department Policy and Procedure Manual, staff will wear TASER holsters on the side of the body opposite of the deputy’s handgun.
