POLICY
This policy establishes the guidelines for training relating to Use of Force pursuant to Penal Code
13519.10 and Government Code 7286.
TRAINING
1. At least annually, all sworn personnel shall receive training related to this agency’s use
of force policy and related legal updates for the following:
a. Legal standards for use of force
b. Duty to intercede
c. The use of objectively reasonable force (in non-deadly force situations)
d. Guidelines for the use of deadly force
e. Proportionality and use of force in response to minor resistance
f. Ethical decision making
g. Principles of procedural justice
h. De-escalation techniques and mandated du
