Reference source not found.-1 POLICY It is the policy of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office to hire and retain only the most competent park rangers. The park patrol function is complex and demanding and requires special training beyond what is acquired in the academy. The Sheriff’s Office will operate a Park Ranger Training Program under the direction of the Special Enforcement Division Commander or designee to ensure all personnel engaged in park patrol operations are properly prepared and qualified to do so. Personnel receiving an initial assignment to park patrol operations will first complete the Park Ranger Field Training Program.
