Kern County Sheriff’s Office Policies and Procedures TITLE: SHERIFF’S CANINE HANDLER UNIFORM NO: K-485 APPROVED: Donny Youngblood, Sheriff-Coroner REFERENCE: EFFECTIVE: REVIEWED: REVISED: UPDATED: March 1, 2021 December 3, 2024 December 3, 2024 April 9, 2025 POLICE Canine Handler uniforms will conform to the specifications described in KCSOPPM Section K-0300. Outer Panel Carrier - OPC The OPC authorized to wear will be the Point Blank Outer Panel Carrier – Guardian, in OD Green as outlined in KCSOPPM Section K-0300. The rear “Sheriff K9” identifier will be green, heat pressed and in bold gold lettering. The exception to the OPC specifications will be that Canine Handlers are permitted to carry the required and canine specific equipment. These items may include electronic collar transmitters, heat alarm/door pop controller, and outing tool. DIRECTIVE 1. UNIFORM-CALLOUTS In callout situations, canine handlers shall make every attempt to wear the approved canine handler uniform.
