POLICY The Work Release Program (WRP) is an alternative to incarceration program. The program was established to promote the successful reintegration of law violators into society, and reduce jail population, by providing work skills for the participants. The program benefits the community by providing labor services to other county departments. The Work Release Program has been established as a component of the criminal justice system within Kern County and must work closely with the courts, probation, parole, and the detention facilities.
