Kern County Sheriff’s Office Policies and Procedures TITLE: SHERIFF’S SPECIAL FUND NO: J-800 APPROVED: Donny Youngblood, Sheriff-Coroner EFFECTIVE: August 1, 1990 REVIEWED: 6/1/2018 REVISED: 3/17/2011 UPDATED: 6/1/2018 J-800-1J-800 POLICY Pursuant to Government Code Section 29430 et. seq., the Board of Supervisors established the Sheriff's Special Appropriation Fund. The Sheriff-Coroner may use the funds for:  Expenses incurred in criminal cases arising in the county.  Expenses necessarily incurred by the Sheriff-Coroner in the preservation of peace.  Expenses necessarily incurred by the Sheriff-Coroner in the suppression of crime. ALLOWABLE EXPENDITURES: The expenses that require cash outlays related to criminal cases, the preservation of peace and the suppression of crime will include, but will not be limited to:  Payments to, or on behalf of, informants.  Purchase of evidence.  Expenses incurred for investigative activities.  Purchase of emergency suppli
