Kern County Sheriff’s Office Policies and Procedures TITLE: EMPLOYEE DISCIPLINE – ADMINISTRATIVE APPEAL NO: D-400 APPROVED: Donny Youngblood, Sheriff-Coroner EFFECTIVE: August 1, 1990 REVIEWED: 8/31/2017 REVISED: 3/10/2006 UPDATED: 8/31/2017 D-400-1 POLICY A pre-disciplinary administrative appeal is afforded to all members of the Sheriff’s Office during the disciplinary or termination process to provide a meaningful opportunity for the members to respond and present their side of the story. The procedures set forth here give appeal rights in addition to any which are afforded by Civil Service provisions. This policy is also intended to implement and to satisfy any such right of appeal provided for in a Memorandum of Understanding with a recognized employee organization. DIRECTIVE A Commissioned reserve deputies, probationary, and extra-help employees are not entitled to the procedural protection set forth in the rules of the Civil Service Commission. H
