POLICY:
When an inmate is in need of immediate medical attention by a physician, an
ambulance will be called, and the inmate will be transported to Kern Medical or
the appropriate medical facility determined by medical personnel.
DIRECTIVE 1
Generally, all felony arrests will be guarded while they are at the hospital.
Misdemeanor arrests may be guarded depending on whether they are prone to
escape, are assaultive, or when it is felt that the safety or the public and
community is best served by guarding the arrested person.
Notwithstanding, the provisions of Penal Code 4011 & 4011.5, the guard may be
removed from a prisoner charged with or
