Kern County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division TITLE: On-Call Criteria – Homicide NO: B-300 APPROVED: Commander Raul Murillo EFFECTIVE: 05/15/2008 REVIEWED: 03/24/2023 REVISED: 12/18/2019 UPDATED: 03/24/2023 B-300-1 POLICY The Kern County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit consists of one Sergeant and eight Detectives. The eight Detectives are broken down into four two-man teams. They are on-call for one week at a time, which begins on Thursday at 0700 and runs until the next Thursday at 0700. This schedule allows them to be on-call once every four weeks. Additionally, there are two Detectives assigned to other Investigations Units that are “on call.” These Detectives generally assist Homicide Detectives by working with the Crime Scene Investigations Unit in the identification, documentation and collection of evidence.
