Kern County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division TITLE: Guidelines for Officer Involved Shooting Detective Call-Out NO: B-200 APPROVED: Commander Raul Murillo EFFECTIVE: 05/15/2008 REVIEWED: 03/24/2023 REVISED: 12/18/2019 UPDATED: 03/24/2023 B-200-1 POLICY DPPM G-300 establishes protocol for the Investigation of Firearms Discharges. The policy dictates that all incidents involving the use of deadly force or any discharge of a firearm by a member of this department will be investigated. Unless the incident falls under the Range responsibilities the Investigations Division will be responsible for the investigation of the incident. In addition to Officer Involved Shootings, unintentional discharge incidents will be investigated on a case-by-case basis to be determined by the Investigations Division Commander or designee. In order to ensure the thoroughness and completeness of these types of investigations, the following Directives are established. D
