TRAINING BULLETIN Issue: 25-70 DATE: 11/17/2025 Policy Update – KCSOPPM M-0510 Field Training Program – Park Rangers On August 19, 2025, the creation of KCSOPPM M-0510 – Field Training Program – Park Rangers was completed. Policy Highlight Key Points Creation of the Field Training Program for Park Rangers and establishment of the following Procedure and Directives: - Procedure A – Assigning Parking Rangers to the Park Ranger Field Training Program o Directive A – Tenured Employees o Directive B – Quarterly Meetings o Directive C – Field Training Officer Qualifications Summary of Procedure A Park Rangers must complete the Park Ranger Field Training Program before receiving a park patrol assignment. Because new hires are often placed at various County facilities first, the Sheriff’s Office will assign them to field training as staffing, fiscal limits, and time allow. Park Rangers will return to their prior facility assignment after completing field training unless they later transfer to a permanent park patrol role.
