The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is committed to work in partnership with our community to enhance the safety, security, and quality of life for the residents and visitors of Kern County through professional public safety services. Lerdo Directive 25-11: Hospital Guard and Transport Procedures The Detentions Bureau has reviewed and assessed policies DBPPM H-300 (Transporting Incarcerated Persons to the Hospital) and DBPPM H-350 (Guarding Inmates at the Hospital) to ensure they reflect current operational needs and best practices. As a result, procedures have been updated to enhance supervision, improve security, classification and staffing decisions. These procedural updates will also clarify expectations for restraint use and monitoring of incarcerated people during hospital transport. Further clarification regarding the steps that shall be followed when assigning personnel to transport or watch an incarcerated person at the hospital are outlined in Lerdo Direc
