2025 Third Quarter Bias-Free Policing Training: “How to Check Your Unconscious
Bias”
As good practice and for the Third Quarter of 2025, all personnel in the Deputy Sheriff
and Park Ranger ranks are required to view the video entitled “How to Check Your
Unconscious Bias,” review KCSOPPM J-2300, and complete a 10-question quiz.
In summary, studies indicate that all individuals carry some form of implicit/unconscious
bias that can influence their perceptions and reactions, even when they are unaware of
it. All personnel must recognize the importance of treating all members of the public with
respect and providing fair and equitable law enforcement services.
