California Senate Bill 918
California Senate Bill (SB) 918, was approved and signed by the Governor on September
29, 2024. The bill introduces new obligations for social media platforms with more than
1,000,000 active users concerning their interactions with law enforcement agencies under
Business and Professions Code (B&P) 22946. The bill mandates the appointment of law
enforcement liaisons and sets compliance deadlines for search warrants related to user
account information and reads as follows:
