ISSUE: 25-28 TRAINING BULLETIN DATE: June 6, 2025 KCSOPPM G-0210: Distinguished Marksman Designation and KCSOPPM K-0900: Lapel Insignia Effective June 3, 2025, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office approved KCSOPPM G-0210: Distinguished Marksman Designation policy. The Distinguished Marksman Designation is a non-monetary incentive program by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office aimed at improving firearms proficiency, motivation, and morale among sworn personnel. Developed by the Firearms Training Unit, it encourages ongoing marksmanship development beyond regular qualifications. Participants who demonstrate exceptional skill with their issued pistol receive a department-authorized lapel pin as a symbol of achievement and professional pride.
