Consent Search of a Residence
The Stipulated Judgement Paragraph 72 states:
“If feasible, a KCSO deputy shall immediately notify a supervisor when
considering a home search based on consent, and the supervisor shall
approve the search before it is conducted.”
When feasible, Sheriff’s Office personnel, having received consent to search a residence,
shall notify a supervisor before searching. If not feasible, there must be facts given as to
why notification was not feasible. This information needs to be documented to ensure the
Sheriff’s Office complies with the Stipulated Judgment.
