Photographic Lineups
This training bulletin serves as a reminder of the legislatively mandated requirements as
they relate to photographic lineups.
California Penal Code Section 859.7 contains the mandates for administering a
photographic lineup appropriately and legally. All sworn personnel are required to review
this training bulletin and PowerPoint presentation regarding photographic lineups.
Personnel are also reminded to pay particular attention to the requirement that
photographic lineups be audio and video recorded (BWC). If they are not audio/video
recorded, the written report must document the reason why they were not available.
