Department of Motor Vehicles Memo 23-07:
Disabled Person Parking (DPP) Placard Database Inquiry Search Procedure
On October 27, 2023, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) issued Law
Enforcement Information Memo 23-07: Disabled Person Parking (DPP) Placard
Database Inquiry Search Procedure. The purpose of the memo is to notify law
enforcement of changes to the way a Disabled Person Parking (DPP) is queried in the
California Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS).
Prior to this change, law enforcement agencies were able to query a DPP Placard in
CLETS without the use of a file code. Now, agencies conducting CLETS inquiries for
DPP placards must use file code “S” to receive current placard information.
