Verification of Vehicle Registration Status for Vehicle Code Section 5204
On June 22, 2023, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) issued Law
Enforcement Information Memo 23-03: Verification of Vehicle Registration Status for
Vehicle Code Section 5204. The purpose of the memo is to notify California law
enforcement agencies of statutory changes regarding the issuance of citations for
violations of California Vehicle Code Section 5204.
