WEAPONS LAW UPDATE
California Penal Code sections 16590 and 18010 list the “generally prohibited weapons”
and items that constitute a nuisance. Nunchakus (a martial arts weapon consisting of two
sticks joined together by a chain or cord) used to fall under the prohibited weapons list as
well as an item that constitutes a nuisance.
Effective January 1, 2022, nunchakus (or “Nunchucks”) has been deleted from the list
of prohibited weapons and from the list of weapons for which a district attorney, city
attorney, or the Attorney General may bring an action to enjoin the manufacture of, the
importation of, the offering for
